Sichuan Photo Adventure Itinerary
Today is mainly dedicated to your arrival at Chengdu airport. When you arrive, you will be picked up from the airport and transferred to your comfortable accommodation in Chengdu. Welcome Orientation will be held at 7 pm, followed by a Welcome Dinner.
In the morning, we will go to a traditional open air market and capture the daily life of locals, street vendors etc., and experience life in Chengdu. Then we will go to the central park of the city, where local people go to do dancing and Tai chi. After seeing the Sichuan opera acts, street doctors, ear cleaners and all the sorts of interesting characters in this laid back Chinese city, we’ll have a break at a famous tea house. Later in the evening, we will head to Leshan in our private vehicle.
The Giant Buddha was carved into rocks more than a thousand years ago. It is a staggering 71 meters tall, and overlooks the Dadu River. Early in the morning after breakfast, we will visit this magnificent statue to take photos of it and its surroundings. In the afternoon, we will visit a small rural village in the mountains around Leshan, and capture photos of the beautiful old style buildings and the breathtaking scenery. In the evening we will drive to Ya an.
We will visit the amazing nature/panda sanctuary of Bifengxia, which has the highest population of pandas in China. Visitors can view them up close, and take some amazing shots. In the afternoon we will visit the Shang Li old town. This is a fine example of an ancient Qing dynasty town with interesting architecture. We will stay in the Ya an area.
Today we will start our journey to the west of Sichuan. In these next 3 days, we will be climbing as high as 3500 meters. We will see majestic mountains, tranquil grasslands and even snow and hail at times. This quiet, pollution free area is mostly populated by Tibetans. We’ll go through the Jia jing mountain, a famous mountain with fantastic scenery, and home to many native eagles.
We will cover the area between Xiao Jin to Hongyuan , about 300km, from the mountains to Chinese grassland. Different landscapes present great photo opportunities!
Today we will go from Hongyuan to Songpan through grasslands dotted with mountain sheep, cattle and Yak. Our last full day in the Tibetan region of Sichuan.
Today after a long drive back to Chengdu, we will check in to our hotel, have a traditional Chengdu hotpot dinner and go to a Sichuan Opera.
This is the departure day, you will be dropped at the airport in time for your flight back home.
